"Predictable Periodontal
Surgical Solutions to
Esthetic Challenges"
Speaker
Jonathan Szymanowski, DDS
There are many soft tissue and or
hard tissue problems that can make
restoration more difficult than just simply
the crown alone. The objective of the
presentation is to introduce the
attendee to predictable periodontal surgical
procedures that can correct those challenges.
The patient can present with too much gingival
tissue giving the patient excess gingival display
or too little in the form of recession leading to
a very long clinical crown. An anterior bridge
restoring an area with a significant alveolar
ridge defect will also create a long clinical
crown that may also be complicated with
black triangles. With a patient presenting with
a hopeless anterior tooth, how do we decide
between an immediate implant or a fixed bridge?
These and other clinical scenarios will be
presented with in depth treatment planning
discussions that will give the attendee a
good knowledge of the periodontal surgical
procedures available to help achieve a
predictable esthetic result for their patients.
Jonathan Szymanowski, D.M.D., M.M.Sc.
received his doctoral and post-doctoral
degrees from the Harvard School of Dental
Medicine and is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Periodontology. He is currently
chairman of the CE committee and serves on
several different committees at the Sacramento
District Dental Society. Also, he was a board
member of the Sacramento Zoo. He has
presented several presentations on periodontics
throughout the United States, including CDA
Presents. Dr. Szymanowski maintains a private
practice with his father which is limited to
periodontics in Sacramento. He is also a clinical
instructor at the McClellan VA in Sacramento.
